Brief Answer:
Muscle cramps

Detailed Answer:

Dear Madam,
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I appreciate your concern towards the shooting pain in the leg.

In addition to muscle cramps, shooting pain can also result from a pinched nerve, or inflammation of the tendons.

Muscle cramps are usually caused by muscle fatigue, heat, or dehydration.

Beside taking Advil along with Ranitidine following measures can be beneficial in getting rid of the pain:

Compress or bandage the painful area to limit any swelling and movement that could damage it further.
You can use a simple elastic bandage. It should be wrapped around the affected area, but not so tightly that it restricts blood flow.
Apply ice wrapped in a damp towel to the injured area for 15 to 20 minutes.
Do not leave the ice on while you are asleep.
Keep the affected area elevated and supported on a pillow to help reduce swelling.

If the pain does not subside, you need to be examined by a doctor to rule out other causes of the pain.

Hope the above listed suggestions could be of great help to you in getting the relief from the pain.
