What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Heart Palpitations?
Question: When I walk a short distance I get short of breath for a few minutes and can feel my heart beating fast? I am over weight a lot 335 a woman 58.

And 2 issues come to my mind which may be causing you problems-
1. the overweight status- this itself may cause you more breathlessness than the normal people. And controlling it may in fact help relieve your hypertension, dyslipidemia, knee pain and possibly your breathlessness.
2. I would consider a cardiac issue considering your history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and overweight status. It would be probably better for you to get a echocardiography for hemodynamics. Sometimes the pumping capacity of the heart will reduce and the blood is not pumped that well. Thereby, breathlessness occurs that is relieved on resting.
3. also check your sugars if not previously checked. Raised and undetected sugars may also cause a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis- which has breathlessness as one of its features. Diabetes may be considered because of the possible metabolic syndrome you may have- hypertension, high lipids, and obesity are 3 components of metabolic syndrome and all 3 can together predispose to new onset type 2 diabetes.
