Question: Hi. I have mast cell disease diagnosed by elevated prostoglandin d2 and prostoglandin f2 alpha levels. They were both more than double the high normal levels.
I'm more recently having shortness of breath and esophagitis. My gastro Doctor think it's may be eosinophilic esophagitis which could be related to the mast cell disease.
I just had an endoscopy yesterday and they did some biopsies to check for eosinophils.
Does an elevated prostoglandin d2 level confirm mast cell disease? or could I have an eosinophilic disease instead?

I respond well to steroids, but would rather not take them anymore due to side effects.
Are there any treatments other than steroids that lower eosinophils? I want to try one to see if it helps my shortness of breath and esophagitis. Thanks

Hi, ive had severe fatigue, cognative problems, blurry vision, attention difficulties since my early twenties. I felt like a drug reaction from an antibiotic called ampicillin contributed to it.

I have been tested for allergies via skin prick test and showed +3, or +4 allergies to about 30 of the 40 things i was tested for. But, i dont reallly have allergic reactions other than an occasional runny nose.

I tried many treatments for 13 years until i was duagnosed with mast cell activation disorder (mcad) 4 years ago due to my symptoms and elevated prostoglandin d2 and prostoglandin f 2 alpha. I was put on mast cell stabilizers which did help. I was then put on the steroid dexamethazone for 3 years. It helped alot, but i had to discontinue it due to bad side effects.

Im now having esophagitis and shortness of breath which my doctor believes could be esinophilic esophagitis due to the type of symptoms i was having. I got an endoscopy yesteday which showed esopjagitis and I did get a biopsy to test for eosinophils, but the results arent in yet.

I just wanted to know if there are esonophilic disorders that can cause the fatigue, cognitive problems, and blurry vision that i have been experiencing or if a mast cell disorder would be the best explaination.

Hi, thanks for your answer. My doctor thinks I have mast cell activation where there is a normal number of mast cells, but they are overactive.
I've had the shortness of breath for two months, but no wheezing. I developed this at the same time I developed chest tightness, lump in throat, choking feeling, swallowing difficulties which I think are from esophagitis. I was wondering if the shortness of breath could be Related to the esophagitis.
