Can My Wife Take I-pill While Suffering From Swollen Feet And Stomach Cramps After An Abortion?

Hi,My wife had taken MTP kit( Mifepristine +misoprostol) as adviced by the doc for terminating preg.She took it on 9th and after taking she got bleeding for nearly 6-7 days. Now, She is having a bit swollen feet and hands and she is having slight stomach pain after 15 days of taking it. Last to last night we had unprotected sex and now can she take i pill, means we are in between 0-72 days of taking i pill.and just 36 hours have passed. I would like know will she be physically fine after taking the i pill?

Hello,

Cramps and swellings ideally get reduced in 4-5 days of termination of pregnancy. Its already 15 days so she is advised to get clinically examined by a gynecologist to rule out incomplete abortion, your wife has symptoms of incomplete abortion.

Get her evaluated, neglect will result in infection and complication. In case of incomplete abortion her Gynae will recommend vacuum evacuation or D and C (dilatation and curettage) whatever is best for her. You had unprotected sex, and she has taken Ipil within 72 hours of the event. She will get withdrawal bleeding in 5 to 10 days.

After abortion or miscarriage, an emergency IUD is the preferred option. Oral contraceptives should be started 1 week after the termination of pregnancy. Your wife is advised to take home made food rich in protein and iron. Avoid sexual intercourse while she is being treated.
