What Causes Shortness Of Breath?
My Daughter is 11 yrs old and she had a breathing issue all of a sudden oneday. Through investigations, only EEG report was found to be deviated and diagnosed as minor seizure disorder. She was advised by a Neurologist to take valparin 200 ml and Polybion syrup for 3 months. Then EEG was repeated and it is found to be normal now. She is not taking any medicines now. May I know why the deviation 3 months before and has it become normal due to Valparain taken for 3 months? Kindly clarify.
Minor deviations are normal on EEG
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your daughter's symptoms, EEG reports and treatment taken.
Minor deviations on EEG are normal and there is no need to diagnose minor seizure disorder in those cases. So, in my opinion, anti epileptic drugs such as valparin were not needed at all. Anyway, I am glad that it has been stopped now.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,

One more findings is that her Vitamin D3 level is 16.8 ng/ml which seems to be low and the sufficient level should be 30~100 as per lab reports. She has been prescribed to take 4 sachets of calcirol weekly once.
Please let me know what is the cause for her Vit D3 deficiency and how to prevent it further? Is there any relation between this issue and her one or two episodes of breathless issue? Kindly advise.
Vitamin D supplements are needed.

Thank you for getting back.
I agree with a diagnosis of panic attack. No special precaution is needed and she should be treated like any other normal child. She can swim, cycle and skate just like any other child.
Vitamin D deficiency occurs because of inadequate exposure to sunlight. As of now, calcirol sachets are needed. In future, she should walk of jog in sunlight daily to maintain normal vitamin D levels.
There is no connection between low vitamin D and her panic attack.
