What Causes Sore Jaws While On Amoxicillin?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: I have a moderately sore jaw which is making it hard to open my mouth wide or to chew. I was on amoxicillin for 10 days for a sinus infection and ear infection. I finished the antibiotics approximately one week ago. Could I have an infection in my jaw or still an ear infection?

also my jaw is a little swollen and I am not running a higher temperature.

Brief Answer:
It is more likely to be due to the ear infection.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HelathcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I feel that the following suggestions would be of help to you:
* Gurgle with lukewarm water.
* Take steam inhalation. Sinusitis is hard to treat as the sinuses have very poor blood supply and hence medicines do not reach there well. Water in form of vapor can reach deep inside and will help by diluting the mucus blocks.
* Take juicy fruits like citrus fruits. They contain plenty of potassium which is needed for proper muscle contractions. It could help with the muscle soreness.

Hope that helps.
