What Causes Soreness And Redness In Breast After A Mastectomy?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 May 2014
Question: In 1999 I had a left breast mastectomy with a saline implant reconstruction. I have had no problems since, but last night when I removed, my bra, my reconstructed breast was blotchy red and the pectoral muscle was sore. Earlier that day, I was sitting in the back seat of a car with my husband when the drive took a sharp left turn and threw us to the right. My husband was on my right and I was not wearing a seat belt, so I crashed into him rather hard. Today some of the soreness is gone, but my breast remains red. what do you think may have happened?

Brief Answer:
Soft tissue injury

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your concern and I have understood it.

I would keep a possibility of soft tissue injury due to the trauma of crashing into your husband, thus leading on to soreness and some inflammation.

If I was the treating doctor I would have suggested you to take an OTC pain killer/ anti-inflammatory e.g ibuprofen twice daily for a few days. That should make it fine within a few days.

regards
