What Causes Soreness And Redness Of Tongue?
Oral mucositis and Pharyngitis...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query. I have understood your problem. I will try my best to help you out with this.
The symptoms described by you seem to be related to both pharyngitis and oral mucositis. The cause of this is could be secondary to inappropriate use of antibiotics to control the infection and reduced immunity in the body. Acid reflux from the stomach into the throat can also present with simiilar symptoms which requires a thorough examination by doctor.
Your doctor is on the right track by sending the blood for investigations. Blood has to be checked to rule out anemia, infection and variation in the blood sugar levels.
Till you get the blood reports, you can try the following:
1. OTC pain relievers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac.
2. Oral glycerin application.
3. Oral multivitamin to boost up your immunity and to reduce the mucositis.
4. Drink plenty of warm water; this will keep the tissues hydrated.
5. Consume plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables (as they are the rich source of vitamins).
6. Avoid chilled food & beverages/coffee/greasy food/alcohol and smoking (if any).
Keep me informed once you get the blood reports.
Hope I have answered your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.
