default
Posted on Thu, 14 May 2015
Question: I am 8 weeks pregnant. And had heavy bleeding on 19th of April. Got the scan done everything was normal. After that day it reduced to spotting. On 22nd when this does not stop I again went to doctor and took the TVS scan. Minimal SCH was noted. Took the injection proluton and started with regular susten progesterone tabs. Its being 10 days but the bleeding/spotting did not go. Its brownish meroon thread like 5-6 times a day. Pls suggest is it normal or it can be a risk for me and baby. What precautions shall i take and how long should i wait for this to stop. Attached are the reports.

Brief Answer:
Repeat TVS scan and review with report.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Subchorionic hematoma or bleeding is most common type and occurs in 3% of pregnancies.

Presence of subchorionic bleeding around gestational sac DOESN'T have significant association with miscarriage. It should be monitored till 10th week of pregnancy.

You should continue prescribed medication, take adequate bed rest, avoid heavy work or strenuous activity, long journey and maintain genital hygiene properly.

I suggest you to repeat the TVS scan in this week to know the status of fetal growth, viability and well being.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish her good health and successful motherhood.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
