Question: Fell down and knee is severely bruised/swollen. Bruise is spreading.... normal?

Hello.

I am concerned. Fall on the knee can cause ligaments damage. But as the bruise seems to be spreading, it could be serious injury. I would suggest you to show it to orthopedic surgeon at the earliest. MRI of the knee is entailed.

Until you visit the doctor, I would start you on:
1. Over the counter pain killer like ibuprofen twice daily.
2. Diclofenac ointment local application
3. Ice application
4. Compression bandage
