What Causes Squeaking Sound In Ear While Recovering From Sinus Infection?
Along with the present medicines other measures are also required..
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
After going through the query, I am of opinion that you could be suffering from unresolved sinusitis. The cause of this could be either presence of some allergen in the house or the work place which is triggering the attacks of sinusitis and ineffectiveness of the medicines. The ear discomfort and the numbness are due to blockage of the Eustachian tube (the tube connecting nose and the ear).
Do not worry! With the appropriate measures this problem can be tackled effectively. Initially, you would require an x-ray of the paranasal sinuses to confirm the extent of the disease. Apart from the present set of medicines, you would also require the following measures to hasten the recovery process.
1. Do steam inhalation 2-3 times a day for 3 minutes. This will open up the clogged sinuses and clears the secretions, also helps in opening the blocked Eustachian tube.
2. Use saline nasal spray as frequently as possible. Saline spray clears the blocked secretions and increases the effective ventilation inside the nose and the sinuses.
3. Drink plenty of warm water. Warm water increases the blood circulation to the affected area and reduces the inflammation.
4. Continue with steroid nasal spray.
5. Keep your surroundings clean, change your pillow cover every night before going to bed.
6. Avoid chilled food/beverages and coffee (coffee increases the consistency of the secretions).
7. Instead of Entex la, try plain ambroxol (which comes in various brand names) to reduce the consistency of the secretions.
Hope I have answered your query. I will be available for the follow-up queries.

Dry air could be the main culprit..
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing back
That says it all, dry air could be the main culprit. Use saline nasal spray as frequently as possible. It will keep the nasal mucosa moist and helps in easy clearance of the secretions. As much as possible, please try to keep the surroundings dust free.
I wish you good luck and good health.

one more question - as a hypochondriac I'm worried about nasopharyngial tumours - but I'm led to believe that these are very rare and as a non smoker I dont think im in a high risk group. Its just that this seems to be worse on one side and it's freaking me out. I have had 3 doctors looking up my nose over the last three weeks - though without an endoscope - wondering about your opinion
I doubt Nasopharyngeal carcinoma....
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
I doubt you are having nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The commonest symptoms of NPC are bloody nasal discharge, lump in the neck, hearing loss, etc. If you are still not convinced, you can insist your doctor to perform a nasal endoscopy.
Hope this clears your doubts.
