my baby is 1.5 month old, there was no any substance on diaper. i already cleanwd that sticky stuffs but wonder what it is as its like tar, not like stuffs come out from adult. why her lips turn black when she is so small?
Brief Answer:
It is normal hormonal effect.
Detailed Answer:
See, newborn baby girls do have some amount of bloody blackish discharge.
This is due to the weaning off of the hormones that get transferred from the mother.
Since it is not on the diaper, do not worry.
IF there is excessive blood, you need to see your doctor.
ALso, the skin there looks very inflamed.
Dont wipe or rub it excessively.
Just soak her in a tub of warm water, and then clean with a soft cloth.
Dont apply too many things there, simple Sudocrem or Baby Vaseline should be fine.
If this discharge persists beyond a week, consult her paediatrician for an indepth assessment.
Is she passing stool regularly ?
Take care.
