What Causes Sticky Sound Behind The Ear When Burping?
Since 2 days , i hear sticky sound behind my ear when i burp or when i touch back bottom of the ear . However i dont have any pain or any discharge. Please advice
Normal of mild ETD. Usually no active treatment.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. The sudden flow of air through the Eustachian Tube that connects the middle ear to the back of the nose causes this sticky sound in the ear when you burp.
2. The bone behind the ear contains a large amount of air containing spaces and cells that are connected to the middle ear air space which is connected to the nose.
3. Normal secretions present in these spaces and the opening of the normally collapsed Eustachian Tube causes these sticky sounds.
4. This is normal. If you want to investigate any Eustachian Tube Dysfunction ( ETD ), consult a local ENT Specialist. If there is no ETD, no treatment is necessary.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
