What Causes Stiffness And Pain In Leg While On Staphylex?

Question: Have been prescribed stapled 500mg for cellulitis.1 tablet every 6hrs have taken my 8th tablet out of 24.My leg though not as tight and ragging red as it was,is still somewhat stiff, painful if standing on it and swollen I have no fever and infarction has not spread. Is this normal. Thanks
Brief Answer:
Shows that the cellulitis is responding to the treatment.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
Staphylex is Flucloxacillin and is a good antibiotic for skin and soft tissue infections. By about a third of the prescribed dose you are feeling better which is an indication that the antibiotic is working and you should be much better by the end of the course. If you are not much better by the end of the course you could discuss the investigations for a clot in the veins of the leg which sometimes occurs with the cellulitis.
Take care,
