What Causes Stomach Cramps, Loose Stools And Nausea?

Question: 29 year old female 5'2 148 lbs. Overweight but overall in decent health. Blood pressure within normal range. Mother of one highly rambunctious 6 year old. Lately I have been having more frequent stomach cramps and tend to have urgent loose stools in the morning which began recently. The other day ate crunchy peanut butter, and had bloody stool. That was scary. Sometimes I have bouts of nausea as well. My question is could this be Crohn's disease or something related?

Brief Answer:
Acute condition...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Since you report the symptoms are very recent, I would consider acute conditions as most likely than chronic pathology such as Crohn's / IBS.

I understand the cramps, urgency and blood stools are concerning you. I would order for complete hemogram and stool routine and culture to rule out intestinal infections before referring you to a gastroenterologist for ultrasound and colonoscopy.

In the interim, avoid high fibre diet. Restrict the spices and caffeinated drinks. Add plenty of yoghurts, pre and probiotics to the diet.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
