The symptoms of tiredness or straining of eyes does not indicate neuritis, no need to be worried.
Neuritis presents with sudden decrease in vision.
The common causes for your condition are refractive error or dryness of eyes.
I would like to treat this condition by use of artificial tears eye drops and if the condition does not respond then vision and refraction testing is advised.

I took Macrobid for 1 day uti treatment last wk & and am worried about it causing neurotis
Brief Answer:
No need to be worried.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.
Thank you for the follow up question.
I reviewed your history.
Macrobid is a antibiotic, commonly used to treat bacterial infections of urinary tract.
It is known to cause few side effects on the eye like blurred vision, dizziness, headache....
It is known to cause optic neuritis very rarely.
However these symptoms are not very common in our clinical practice. In my practice I have not seen optic neuritis caused by Macrobid. It is very rare hence no need to be worried. Moreover optic neuritis is caused on long term usage of the drug.
The common side effects which we see because of Macrobid are nausea, diarrhoea, cough, breathlessness, headache.....
If you experience any of these symptoms then you need to stop the drug and need to use alternative drugs like Norfloxacin which are equally efficient in treating urinary tract infections.
Hence I advice you not to worry but if you come across any of the side effect then do consult your doctor for prescription of alternative drugs as I have mentioned.
Hope this information is helpful to you.
