What Causes Strange Sensations In The Arms And Legs?

Question: Hi, my daughter has been experiencing a strange sensation and I am a bit concerned. She says it feels like she can feel blood flowing through her veins in her arms, legs and sometimes in her head. She does not drink caffeine or take any OTC drugs. Should we be worried?

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description, these symptoms of altered sensations can point to a number of conditions and is not very specific. In such vague presentations, a general physical exam is the best idea after taking a detailed history. Blood pressure should be checked in both arms and baseline investigations including a basic metabolic panel (including blood sugar, LFTS, RFTS) should be advised. The ears should be examined to look for possible hearing loss and any history of tinnitus should be documented. Treatment would depend upon the cause , if any.

Yes, she should be assessed for signs and symptoms of malnutrition, if any. Blood sugar and serum albumin should also be checked just in case.
