Question : my husband has recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Since he has started injecting novo rapid and lantus insulin his body is producing an abnoxious odor is this a tipical side effect to insulin injections?

I understand your concern.

Body odor while starting insulin, I'm afraid it's related to ketoacidosis. Please measure his blood sugar levels, record the results and can send them to me or show to his doctor.

Skin infection is commonly appearing among diabetics.

Advise him to keep good hygiene. Bathe regularly. Advise not to eat spicy foods with strong smell.
