Question: It was like a black felt bag coming over my head and then my eyes shut. I kind of knew what was happening but for a quick second I could not overcome the black out sensation. I was in a relatively XXXXXXX situation for this to occur. Had only had 3 oz of pro biotic and no breakfast intense morning -although positive for me and it was about 12:50 PM Saw doctor had EKG BLOOD PRESSURE AND PULSE...taken. MD said nothing more to do unless it occurs again and then full neurological. I have very mild para thyroid disease, gerd and have had my thyroid removed. Should I request additional tests ? A1c, neurological etc. Thank you for your attention

Dear Mam.
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I have read your query in detail. I understand your concern.
Such kind of single episodes usually occur as a result of Vaso Vagal / Postural Syncope especially when you exert that too with meals skipped.
Still at age of 71 years, we should rule out Cardiac and Neurological cause.
So, please answer my following questions, so that i can give you an idea of what had happened that day :
1. Any history of diabetes or hypertension?
2. Were you standing at that time you had blackout?
3. Did you have a feeling of impending doom, ringing in ears and slight abdominal pain before you had before you had blackout?
4. Did you get unconscious during that episode?
5. Any Diplopia? Dysphagia?
6. Any seizure episodes?
