What Causes Sudden Fainting?
Question: I colasped in the morning while taking a shower without loosing conscince and took 5 minutes to be able to stand. No pain.
Brief Answer:
Suggestive of pre-syncope.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms and it is suggestive of pre-syncope. In this condition, the blood flow to brain gets reduced for a short while, which leads to collapse.
The common underlying causes could be less food intake, exhaustion, less sleep, dehydration, pain, etc. Another common cause could be drop in blood pressure on standing.
Please get back with additional information regarding any other illness you have, and your list of current medications.

I am 87 years old- work full time with 200 employees-take no medicine-work out 1hour day on stationary bike- former addicted runner- wt 150 lbs at 5' 9". have not not missed a day of work in 12 years since knee replacement.
About 3 weeks ago while taking a morning shower both legs gave out and I could not stand sinking to the shower pan. I was fully conscience and in about 5 minutes crawled out of the showe and slowly stood. I finished the day though I was weak and it took 2 weeks to fully regain my strenth. I had no pain or headaches. I did not go to a Dr. Do I have TIA? XXXXXXX XXXX

Brief Answer:
TIA is a possibility.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back with additional information.
Your lifestyle and daily schedule is praiseworthy.
Yes, TIA is also one of the possibility, where the blood supply to a part of brain reduces and the person recovers in less than 24 hours, usually within one hour. MRI brain with angiogram would help in further evaluation.
