What Causes Sudden Onset Of Imbalance Issues Along With Confusion And Numb Upper Limb?

Question: Yesterday, I got to work and did not have any balance and could not walk stright. I had weakness and could not concentrate and was confused ( had difficulty logging on to the computer). My co-worker took me to the emergency room and they ran an ekg, did blood work and a CAT scan and everything looked ok and I was better so they released me.
This morning I woke up and my right hand is numb and has been for over 3 hours. I had made an appointment with my regular doctor but he is out of town and they can't see me until the 26th.
Should I see a doctor today?

Brief Answer:
You need to undergo physical examination by a neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient with these complaints,I would have performed a thorough neurological examination on you to decide further plan of management.Though, your acute onset complaints-imbalance,weakness,confusion and numbness in right upper limb, appear to be neurological, yet these complaints appear to be non-localising for any particular part of the brain or neuraxis. Moreover, one of your CAT scan(of brain probably) has turned normal, thus minimising the possibility of any serious brain pathology.Still, I would advise you to get examined by a neurologist and if the symptoms persist for another few hours, then please undergo a magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of brain[of course after consulting your neurologist] as sudden onset of such complaints mandates that vascular event of the brain(stroke) needs to be ruled out.CT or CAT scan within few hours of the stroke can be normal,MRI however picks it up early.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have some follow-up queries,I shall be glad to answer else, please close the thread-rate it and write a review.
