Question : I am 70 year old female... Whenever I eat out. at fast food or even good restaurant. ESPECIALLY if I drink a coca cola, I start to feel "shakey", very nervous, sometimes breaking out in sweats... I assume that since this seems to occur after I eat out ( I usually prefer my home cooking), it must have something to do with diet and not my thyroid condition. ( I take levothyroxin)

I am sorry to hear that you are having reactions when you are eating out in restaurants. This could be related to just the additional caffeine from your coca cola or the higher sodium levels from the food. It is hard to determine the exact cause of your symptoms. I would recommend trying to avoid any caffeinated beverages. Drink water or other non caffeine containing drinks. The look at what is on the menu and pick foods that are heart healthy. Most menus and restaurants list foods or mark items that are low sodium and low fat.

None of your symptoms are related to your thyroid condition.
