What Causes Swelling And Itching On Hand Post An Insect Bite?
THANKS FOR ANSWER. I HAD BOTH KNEES REPLACED 3-4 YEARS AGO. IS IT DESIREABLE TO GO ON ANTIBIOTIC FOR A FEW DAYS? I HAVE 7 TABLETS OF BACTRIM DS 800 MG. LEFTOVER FROM A UTI SIX MONTHS AGO. IF YES - IS THE BACTRIM APPROPRIATE?
THANKS AGAIN HAND IS A LITTLE BETTER THIS AM.
A couple of days for resolution, call a doctor if it persists
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. With insect bite the swelling is due to inflammation and its resolution is affected by many things including old age of 77. I would say no worries, and continue taking painkillers and anti inflammatory meds like ibuprofen etc which you are, and wait and see. It may take a couple of days to a week. But it will keep resolving and reducing in swelling.
You can put some ice pack over the inflammation , keep the hand elevated if it is painful and rest for a while. I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Not needed antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me
As i mentioned earlier, if its merely an insect bite, simple NSAIDs would be sufficient and no need to shift to any antibiotics. Wait for it. if the swelling persists or worsens then get it evaluated for other causes. Knee replacement is not correlated here with the hand inflammation .
I hope it helps.
