What Causes Swelling And Pain In Eyes After An Accident?
It is the unresolved tissue injury due to the trauma!!!
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for consulting and your trust in HCM means a lot to me as a Physician.
I have completely reviewed your health query, and well realize all those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.
If there is a soft tissue injury to the eye and its surrounding it causes swelling and discoloration of the eye due to blood accumulation named hematoma formation. Inflammatory fluid also accumulates and causes puffiness around the orbital circuit (the bones of the eye).
But that should have been resolved if you took medications for that. If left untreated, it may have caused infection and also unresolved hematoma.
Other possibility is that you have got a fracture of the orbital (eye) bony structures. It is very common to have such a fracture as the eye cup is made of many bones united together and a single punch can shatter any of the bones.
As far as your nasal fracture is concerned, that also needs to be reduced. Unreduced fractured nasal septal defects always behave like this. They swell up due to inflammation and cause pain and eye puffiness too and may also cause an infection to the paranasal sinuses (the structures around the nose).
Final suggestion:-
Please spare some time to get it evaluated by the Orthopedist who will go for complete Physical examination and some diagnostics including radiological investigations to see if there are fractures, dislocated or misaligned bones in bony eye socket or in the nasal bones and nasal septum injury. Meanwhile take Ibuprofen for pain and inflammation until you get appointment for proper evaluation. Hot fomentation will also help for soothing comfort. Take medicine after meals and only for unbearable pain.
Hope I answered all of your queries. Let me know if you have further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you.
