What Causes Swelling And Pressure On The Left Side Of Skull?

Question: I have just discovered that the rear left of my skull feels raised. I can feel a slight amount of pressure. I am currently on antibiotics for suspected sinus infection also on the left side. I also currently have pinched nerves in my neck which I am seeking physio for. But the discovery on the top of my head is worrying me
Brief Answer:
Muscle spasm.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. The Scalp has a continuous sheet of muscle.
2. What you feel is most likely a muscle spasm due to the pinched nerves in the neck.
3. This is unlikely to be related to sinusitis. Get cervical spine X-rays done. Continue the physiotherapy. A USG can always be done if your physician has a doubt after palpation the swelling.
4. A muscle relaxant, painkiller, local ointments and heat fomentation will help relieve this. The cause of the irritation such as the pinched nerves in the neck must be treated.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
