What Causes Swelling In A Child's Body After Eating?

Question: I have a 10 yr old daughter that swells up like a balloon when she eats. She sometimes tells me when she is breathing it hurts because she over indulges could this be a more serious medical issue
Brief Answer:
Needs complete evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. The reasons for such swelling can be:
1. Allergic reaction
2. Nephrotic syndrome
3. Hypoproteinemia secondary to malnutrition or liver dysfunction
4. Cardiac disease.
I would recommend you to visit a pediatrician for complete clinical evaluation to come to a diagnosis. Laboratory evaluation of CBC, SGPT, SGOT, S. Albumin, lipid profile, S. Creatinine and BUN, urine routine, chest X Ray and ECG can be of help after clinical evaluation. Meet an allergist to check for allergic reactions.
Continue with medications for ADHD.
Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care
