Question: can the butrans ciii patch cause foot swelling within a few days of starting the 10mcg/hour patch and causes some upper respitory issues, such as wheezing or whistling noises, even for a while after you stop taking it?

Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for the query.
Swelling of feet is a recognized side effect of Butrans and occurs in less than 10%of the users.
Wheezing is suggestive of Asthma and Butrans should not be used in people with asthma.
If it persists, it's better to see your doctor and have a spirometry done .

I have never had Asthma. I just wondered if the runny nose, upper respitory coughing and noisemaking like whistling is from a sinus infection, head cold or ordinary upper respitory infection, because it seemed to come, after I stopped the patch as my Dr. said? Do seem to have, at night, feeling of sinus pressure somewhat, but when I lay down, will wake up with some noises, when I exhale, like whistling type, but not when I inhale. Dr. ordered Zpak but is doing nothing for any of the upper respitory issues. There a lot of seasonal allergies here in XXXXXXX which I finding out, but this just seemed to come on after patch removal, because my lower legs and feet were swelling. Nose is not clogged now, but a few days back was just plain dripping. Can the Butrans patch cause the upper respitory problems that seemed to have came out of nowhere? I have cats, but never had any allergies to them. No apparent fever now, but sometimes sweat off and on now. When I get to coughing, sometimes something comes up, sometimes it doesn't. Better in the daytime. Lying down does seem to bring it on more noticably!

Brief Answer:
Upper respiratory infection and asthmatic bronchitis.

Detailed Answer:
Your symptoms are those of an upper respiratory infection infection. With the swelling and congestion of the mucosa in the nose, there is blockage of the sinuses and can cause sinusitis. The infection can trickle down into the lungs and can cause an asthmatic bronchitis which produces a wheezing.
The doctor has given an antibiotic. In addition to that you can use decongestant nasal drops to clear the nasal passages.
If the wheezing persists after that it is better to have the lung function test.
These are not common side effects of Butrans.

I KNOW THE UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION IS NOT FROM THE BUTRANS! WAS ONLY ASKING ABOUT THE SWELLING WITH THE BUTRANS PAIN PATCH. THE RESPIRATORY THING WAS MY 2ND QUESTION! I HAVE NO FEVER, BUT AM SEEING MY DR. IN 2 DAYS. THE ZPAC DOESN'T AND NEVER HAS DONE ANYTHING FOR ME! MY SISTER HAD THIS SI,ILAR THING TO, AND SHE WAS GIVEN DOXYCYCLINE AND ABOUT 5 DAYS OF PREDNISONE. IS THIS SOMETHING NEW GOING AROUND? HER DR. SAID IT IS AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES YOU REHAVING THE SYMPTOMS TWICE, BEFORE YOU GET RID OF IT, WHICH CAN BE SEVERAL WEEKS! SHE IS NOW GETTING BETTER, SINCE THEY CHANGED HER ANTIBIOTIC! I MYSELF HAVE ALWAYS DONE BETTER ON V-CILLIN K!

Brief Answer:
Different organisms respond differently

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the feedback.
Butrans is the cause for the swelling of feet.
Infective organisms keep changing .
Hope you will get better with the change of medication from your doctor.
Wheezing on breathing out is probably due to the narrowing of the small air passages and this is diagnosed by spirometry.
