What Causes Swelling In Feet While Treating Groin Injury?
Question: Im recovering from a groin injury and am 75 years old. Im doing physical therapy daily but my feet continue to swell. Is this normal?
Brief Answer:
It could be due to injury to the lymphatics
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Swelling of feet can be due to a number of reasons. Two broad reasons are:
* High blood pressure.
* Incompetency in the leg veins or the lymphatics.
Since the injury was in the groin, it is likely that the lymphatics have been obstructed. The excess tissue fluids drain back to the heart via the lymphatic vessels which drain to the groins. It is hard to comment definitively without a clinical examination whether that is happening in your case. However, getting the blood pressure checked will clear the other possibility.
Let me know if I could provide any specific help.
