No laxatives don't cause bilateral leg swelling. Laxatives may causes swelling of the face tongue and lips, but only if someone is allergic to that medicine and takes it.


Leg swelling may be due to cardiac, kidney or lungs diseases. It may also be a side effect of some drugs like Amlodipine. High blood pressure also causes bilateral leg swelling due to the pooling of blood in lower extremities.

Please consult a physician to rule out the cause of the swelling. He will do complete physical examination and will run a battery of tests that may include but not limited to Complete metabolic profile and kidney,liver and heart screening for any disease.
