What Causes Swelling On Scrotum Along With Pain?

Question: This may be easier to ask online than in person. this is not a prank message either. I just noticed a small ball or almost like a large zit on the back of my scrotum (sorry for spelling) fairly high up, almost at my crotch. I often have a shooting pains when I sit in a car or airplane for a significant period of time. This line seems to be in the line of travel of this reoccurring pain. Which seems to start from the scar tissue from where I had an igual hernia (a patch was used) to the back side the testicle on the same side. Or oddly enough this lump seems like it's the point this pain travels from although I just noticed the lump. Sorry this is hard to describe. Again the pain has been reoccurring for some time when I sit for long periods. could this be a pinch vain or maybe it is just an ingrown hair or something that needs to be squeezed or popped? I assume you will say see a doctor but its hard to tell some times if its a big enough issue or not of course the shooting pain is but that's gone unanswered with my current doctor. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound Scrotal Doppler is needed in your case.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.

I understand your query and concern.

There could be two possibilities of swelling in view past history to Inguinal hernia/repair.

1.Inflammation of the cord -epidydimoorchitis .
2.Encysted Hydrocoele of the cord.

These two need to be differentiated ,since the treatment protocol for both is largely different.

For this I advise you to have an Ultrasound Scrotal Doppler which can reliably distinguish the two.

Meanwhile a course of empirical antibiotics like Azythromycin 1gm per oral single tablet followed by tab Levofloxacin 500 mg one tab daily for 10 days will help.

Pain can be controlled by Tab Ibuprofen 600 mg once or twice daily for 5 days.

Please note the above drugs have to be taken under strict medical prescription.

Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
