Question: I have been having pronounced swelling in my feet and legs, medical tests show kidney function to be fine, no high blood pressure what can be causing this

Kidney disease is just one of the causes of the pedal edema (swelling of the feet). As you said, the KFT is normal. However, early kidney disease is not detected by blood disease. It is detected by a ultrasound of the abdomen as well as the urine for microalbumin test.

Also, the pedal edema can develop due to cardiac dysfunction as well as the renal derangements. Therefore, one also has to consider testing with a echocardiography.

These are the two chief causes of the pedal edema. I have also stated the tests needed for their diagnosis.
