What Causes Swollen Tender Testicle?
Question: last Sunday my left testicle started to feel tender. on Monday it began to swellon the bottom of the testicle.
on Tuesday it swelled to about 3 to four times normal size and is very painful Wednesday it remained like this and it is the same today. Iwas in france from Monday and returned today. Advice on what it could be and what action I should take

The acute nature of this pain and swelling, the progressive and rapid increase in size of this testicle and the history of prostate medication makes the suspicion for a possible infection very high. This is because a prostate problem favors the multiplication of germs that can easily gain access too the genital organs like testes located just around
You would need to be consulted first by a general physician. He would examine you looking for signs and symptoms suggestive of an acute infection. You would probably do some urine and blood tests to identify the exact cause of your symptoms. Should they not prove sufficient to pinpoint the cause, then more testing would be considered.
In all, your symptoms are suggestive of an infection(epididymo-orchitis). You would need to be evaluated and do some blood and urine tests. A treatment plan would be proposed and followed through depending on the final results.
For now, put on a pants that prevents the testes fro hanging to relief pain. Paracetamol and ibuprofen at doses recommended by your pharmacist would help relief the pains. However, you may need antibiotics that can only be obtained from your treating physician.
