Brief Answer:
Mucositis and Pharyngitis...Consult your doctor...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query.

The symptoms described by you seem to be related to mucositis of the tongue with tonsillo-pharyngitis. The white spots may be the potential sites for ulcer.

It would be wiser to consult your doctor at the earliest to confirm the same and plan for appropriate management.

Meanwhile, encourage your wife to drink plenty of warm water. Avoid chilled food & beverages/coffee/fried food/alcohol/smoking (if any).

You can also try giving her OTC pain relievers such as diclofenac or ibuprofen. Apply glycerin over the sore areas on the tongue.

Hope I have answered your query. I will be available for the follow-up queries.
