What Causes Throbbing Pain In Lower Abdomen During Menstruation?
Question: Hi, I am a 30yr female with one child. I am currently experiencing a throbbing pain in my lower abdomen that started with menstruation. The pain comes and goes and last for a few mins. Sometimeswhen I am menstruating, I have a discomfort/pain and heaviness in my lower back and legs. It hasn't happened recently, it happens every once and awhile. I was recently diagnosed with a cervical polyp that my doctor believed caused premature bleeding before menstruation. I experienced this pain a few months ago when I wasn't menstruating. I took a scan both abdominal and vaginal but nothing was detected. I had an infection in the lining of my uterus a few years back that I was treated for. Can you offer any possible causes for this pain?
Brief Answer:
most probably it is because of endometriosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
I can understand your conerns,
As you told that you have pain more during menstruation, there is possible cause of pain is endometriosis.
Pelvic inflammatory disease also causes pain but in ultrasound it appears as free fluid in sac.
Do you have any other symptoms like bowel problems, difficulty in conceiving?
I advise that you should go for CT scan or MRI to rule out endometriosis.diagnostic laproscopy is best to confirm endometriosis.consult your gynecologist.
Cervical polyp should be removed or else it can cause heavy bleeding some times.
Hope it helps.
Feel free to ask further.
Thanks.

Thank you for your timely response.
I normally do not have any bowel problems, but there have been instances where I have had a lot of discomfort or pain with bowel movements. It seems to be sporadic and happen every once and awhile.
