Brief Answer:
peripheral neuropathy

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The nerves that are responsible for sensation in the thigh and leg come from different parts of the back from between the vertebra.

Anything affecting these nerves would cause abnormal sensations along the path that they are responsible for.

This is called peripheral neuropathy- abnormal sensations due to problems with the structure or function of the nerves

Causes include: (1) trauma eg compression of the nerves from arthritis is the spine or at the hip level

(2)diabetes
(3)vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(4)liver or kidney disease
(5)side effect of medication
(6)exposure to toxins
(7)infection such as shingles
(8)idiopathic- cause not known

To find out the cause for you, you would need: (1) x ray of the spine to check the vertebra

(2)blood tests for vitamin b12, folate, diabetes, liver, kidney

(3)look at any traditional or herbal medication you are using that may be causing the problem

The treatment would vary according to the cause found but may include physiotherapy, medication (such as gabapentin, tegretol, lyrica, amitriptyline)

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
