What Causes Tingling Of Hands And Feet After Having Vyvanse?
Question: Hello! Female, 20, 5' 3", 98 lbs. I'm on no medications and don't smoke or drink. I've been tested for anemia, diabetes and thyroid problems. All test results came back negative.
I was on Vyvanse about 3 years ago, prescribed for ADHD. It took my appetite away, so I didn't take it very often. It made my heart race and I stopped taking it after a few months because I believe I had some sort of reaction to it. I was in the car and suddenly my feet and hands started tingling. It got worse and worse until I couldn't move my feet or hands at ALL. My mom called an ambulance and it went away after a while. My heart rate was through the roof.
Since then I've been experiencing very strong cold intolerance, combined with episodes of tingling and goosebumps sometimes even when it's not cold. These sensations started before the previously mentioned attack, but only before falling asleep. They have steadily increased and now I feel them every day. Is this caused by some sort of damage caused by Vyvanse? Or is it something else? I also get canker sores in my mouth frequently (this may not be related). Please help me. I'm desperate to find answers.

Vyvanse can cause lot of side effects including palpitations, anxiety, nervousness etc. However, you had stopped it more than 3 years ago.
When did the symptoms which happened while in the car happen?
There are number of hormonal conditions which can cause your symptoms. Thyroid is one of them, but the result is normal. We need to rile out a condition with adrenaline excess ( pheochromocytoma). We may have to do a 24 hour urine testing and a blood test to rule out that. You may also need a holter test to monitor your pulse readings over 24 hours.
Apart from this, panic attack is a common condition which can present in similar manner. I have seen young people with panic attacks presenting like similar symptoms of yours.
Please relax. Meet a GP and discuss the above points. They will be able to arrange for the blood tests.
