What Causes Transient Rise In BP After Eating Food?

Question: Can blood pressure go up after eating? My bp was 136 over 70 something or 80 something, best time to take bp is?
Brief Answer:
Transient elevation after food intake.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
There is only a transient rise in Blood pressure (BP) after eating any food depending upon salt content in the food.
The BP readings you are mentioning are under normal range. However, i would advise you to take low salt and low fat diet.
The best time to measure BP is in the morning when you get up.
However, BP can be measured any time provided you have been exerting.
I hope it helps.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
