What Causes Twitching Sensation In The Stomach And Rapid Heart Beats?
i have felt good lately however i have had 2 wierd sensations where it feels like my heart beat explodes for 4 or 5 beats then pulse is 60. im not sure if its my stomach twitch or i am having some sort of muscle spasm and that twitch is that vs a rapid heart beat. i havent recorded a fast beat. let me explain, today i felt a wierd sensation like a muscle twitch or was it svt. i immediately felt pulse and nothing and then took my pulse on phone and it was 60. if i did have an event of svt of only 4-5 beats would it immediately be normal. yes i have afib due tl sleep apnea but nothing since treated with cpap. i also have gerd. taking nadalol and heart rate 60-66 most time. even my pvcs are gone. is it just my imagination or could i be having svt bursts? if so is it dangerous and will it get worse and one day have svt for long period. yes a little anxiety im sure
Highly unlikely to be an SVT .Holter monitorhelps in ruling out AF episode
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir ,
I am Dr Mody and I would be addressing your concern .
Thank you for an elobrate history as that helps me put up an explanation.
As i start i would wish to say we would not be able to say wheather is was an episode of paroxysmal AF or just an subjective flutter.
However even if it was a short SVT in your case a short episode of AF , I would reassure you that tgere is nothing to worry about .
Only in the medication you have mentioned one should consider an anticoagulant till we are very sure that all episode of AF are taken care of .
The medication depends on your risk scoring , Again AF due to OSA falls into low risk for Embolism ( Lone Af ) as compared to other causes .
Now the best way is to get an 24 hour holter monitoring done to find such sub clinical events .
Things against an SVT episode / AF
Such short episode self terminating withen 4 -5 beats is highly unlikely to be an arrhythmic event .
Also I would like to point out that anxiety many times can precipitate an extra beat whether an VPC or an APC which can give rise to symptoms you describe and as soon as you see the pulse it would come normal the next moment .
Such VPC are benign and have no health related issues whatsoever.
Gerd itself may cause such an feeling particularly if it happened after a meal , cola drink or lying supine .
Cpap itslelf may increase Gerd in some patients .
Nodalol is in adequate dosage and should not be titered up for an single episode.
So as conclusion .
Highly unlikely that it was an SVT event , However note if any similar event happens in future and tge best way to rule things out is an holter monitoring.
Hoping I could help you.
