What Causes Unusual Lump Under The Skin In Pelvic Region?
Question: I just noticed a lump about 1/2 inch under the skin in my pelvic region. The lump feels hard with some sensitivity, but no pain, and the skin above it is reddish. There is no itchiness or sting that would indicate a swelling from a bug bite or skin condition. There seems to be no other symptoms from around the region. The lump/swelling is located about an inch from the base of the penis and about 2 inches off the side. About 10 years ago I underwent a hydrocoelectomy in this same region. Most recently I had pain urinating for about a week along with gas pains but this went away after I seemed to have passed a stone during urination.

As per your description, it looks like a Sebaceous cyst which got infected.
The swelling occurs in relation to hair follicle and it becomes red when it is infected and inflammed.
In my opinion, you should take Antibiotic like Cefuroxime tablet along with Anti inflammatory tablet. Once the redness is diminished, you should get it removed by a Surgeon .It is a simple procedure which can be done under local anaesthesia. For exact diagnosis, you can send the excised swelling for histopathological examination ( Biopsy ).
Nothing to worry.
Drink plenty of liquids to prevent Stone formation.

Thank you for your quick response. Is this likely to be a recurring issue, even after having it removed? Do these cysts form quickly? As noted I did not notice this until just this morning and I was quite surprised since there had been no indications prior of an impending problem.
