What Causes Upper Abdominal Pain And Bloating After A C-section?
I had a Caesarean in April 2016. 4-5 days after the operation i felt my upper abdomen bloated/swollen and i could feel it round. Even now the upper abdomen feels bloated with mild pain and discomfort. The bloating is much less in morning as compared to evenings.
Please suggest.
Thanks& regards,

Your symptoms might be due to previous abdominal surgery
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
1) What is duration between surgery and onset of symptoms? Were symptoms there even before surgery?
2) What about symptoms - nausea, abdominal pain? Constipation and appetite?
3) Generally after any abdominal surgery, intestines adhere to each other and inner layer of abdomen due to adhesion formation and this is inevitable event. Only intensity would defer from person to person. Some may develop symptoms of intestine obstruction (nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, abdominal bulging) and some might develop just bloating.
4) This adhesions also slow the movement of intestine which sometimes produce symptom of bloating.
5) Treatment of this condition will depend upon the severity of symptoms but generally it resolve without any intervention. Sometimes patient might require to eat just semisolid diet or even fasting.
6) In worst scenario it might require surgery also.
7) As per your symptoms and type of surgery (lower abdominal surgery), intensity of symptoms might be very low and it would resolve by its own with simple modification of diet for few days.
8) If symptoms persist for more than 5 days then you need to be evaluated with USG abdomen, X-ray abdomen.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
Surgery was done in April 2016, so it's around 6.5 months back.
Before surgery also i used to have gastric and digestive issues but it was different from now. Now it's a constant bloating feeling and i can feel the bloated/swollen round shape of upper abdomen with stretching pain and discomfort. Whereas the lower abdomen is soft and ni pain or discomfort.
There is no vomiting, nausea or constipation. Appetite is also fine.
Do you suspect any mild infection?
Thanks,

There is no chance of infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I apologize for late reply
1) No. There is no any possibility of infection. Infection give symptoms of fever, abdominal at site of infection (generally at lower abdomen after C-section surgery)
2) Bulging and bloating after 7 months of surgery give rise to suspicion of adhesion related very mild intestinal obstruction or general problem of indigestion (as you mentioned it was there before the surgery).
3) If you have additional symptom of heartburn, burning type of pain in upper center part of abdomen in fasting stage then there might be possibility of gastritis (inflammation in stomach wall) associated dyspepsia in which due to less amount of acid production from stomach, there would be indigestion.
4) It is advisable to start simple treatment for indigestion after consulting your family physician. If it might not improve after 7-8 days then better to evaluate your symptoms with USG abdomen and upper GI endoscopy (if required).
