Brief Answer:
Pregnancy test, exclude pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,

Cycles issues, especially when associated to abdominal pain, in a sexually active female of reproductive age deserves a proper good quality pregnancy test to be carried out. Ruling out a possible pregnancy or an extra uterine pregnancy are urgent.

Abdominal cramping must not only originate from these. It is not because you were intimate that for sure you should be pregnant. In case you are experiencing nausea, vomiting, excessive urination, abdominal bloating, breast tenderness, with cramping, it is also possible this could be a premenstrual syndrome. Some females do experience this before menstruating too.

A detailed evaluation to know why you experience irregular menses is also warranted. The opinion and complete follow up by your gynecologist would be needed.

For now, I suggest a good quality pregnancy test first.

Kind regards,

DR Bain
