Question: Good morning,
I am a 43 year old women and I just had my cycle on September 16th and it lasted for 5 days. I had headaches for two days this past week, and this morning my cycle was on again. When I was younger, I use to have cycles similar to this. After I had my daughter 17 years ago, they were regular again. I have not bee sexually active lately with my husband. Should I be concerned and have it checked out? I had a normal pap in July.

Brief Answer:
Don't worry ,it may be a hormonal imbalance

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for trusting to us .

I understand your concern and I will try to help you.

Vaginal bleeding between cycles is called metrorrhagia and there are many reasons ,
While your PAP-smear is done on July and was normal ,in my opinion cervical issue are excluded .
Did you have excess vaginal discharges with smell odor and or lower abdominal pain ,prior to vaginal bleeding?(to exclude cervical infection)

When was your last ultrasound scan done?
Ultrasound scan is the best method to exclude any fibroids, which are noncancerous growths in the uterus or polyps which are growths on the cervix (the opening of the uterus) or inside the uterus; polyps are usually noncancerous.

In my opinion intermenstrual bleeding with prior headache is only from any hormonal imbalances.

This is a common reason ,after all mentioned reasons are excluded.

Hence don't worry so much .

All the best
