Posted on Wed, 30 Jul 2014
Question: I just got off my period two weeks ago and just yesturday I've experienced brown spotting and now it's like a full blown period but still dark in color. Ive been on birth control since February of this year. I had a full run down for std's and I'm clean. I've only had intercourse with one man and that was recently. Could I be pregnant?

Brief Answer:
Not due to pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Since you are taking the birth control pill regularly the possibility of pregnancy is ruled out. The bleeding that you are having now is likely to be a breakthrough bleeding. It is common to have such a bleeding while taking the birth control pills. It is also not suggestive of any infections.
There is no need to worry. This bleeding will gradually subside in next few without a treatment. Continue taking the birth control pills without forgetting any.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
