Question: I am a 60-year-old postmenopausal female who is experiencing vaginal bleeding containing discharge and small clots of tissue. I have had an ultrasound and was told that my uterine wall is abnormally thick. I am being referred to a GYN specialist. I am wanting to research the possible conditions that I might have.

Brief Answer:
biopsy neccessary

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,

Post menopausal bleeding with a thickened uterine lining requires to be analysed further by taking a biopsy of the lining in the firm of pipeline biopsy and sent to lab for analyses to rule out anything more serious.

There is a 1 in 10 chance of having cancer if the womb which needs to be ruled out with the biopsy.

The further treatment would depend on the biopsy result.

Alternately some doctors may advise a procedure called Hysteroscopy which involves having a look under a instrument introduced into the uterus and then seeing abnormal looking ares in the lining of womb and then taking biopsy.

The goal is to rule out cancer.

Hope this helps.
