What Causes Vaginal Discharge Inspite Of Being On Birth Control Pills?
Question: I have been taking lo loestrin fe for 3 months now and I have not had a cycle. For this past month my cycle if would call it one consisted of (which was on Sept 23) I had brown discharge when I went to the restroom only on time and that was it for the month. I do not know if you would call that a cycle for the month. I am concerned about pregnancy, I had sex on the 26th and we used a condom but he kept going a little longer than I wanted. We do not think that anything came out of the condom but since then I have been having increased vaginal discharge and I am wondering if this is just a side effect of the birth control or possible pregnancy? I have always had a lot of vaginal discharge but not like what I am experiencing now.

I havw gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help you. Birth control pills can easily cause menstrual irregularities (eg. Delayed periods, inter-cycle bleeding, etc.), and so it could be possible that your one day bleed and irregular cycles could be due to the birth control pulls, but then again this is just an assumption.
Before assuming any other cause the first thing to rule out is always pregnancy, whenever menstrual irregularities present, this is protocol. So ut would not hurt to rule out pregnancy ma'am.
But I would also like to say that the increased vaginal discharge is most probably not due to pregnancy, and is more likely either due to an infection or due to a change in vaginal pH from the sexual contact.
The one day bleed could also be related to implantation bleed which is indicative of pregnancy, but this is just extra information I am providing you with. If at all you have observed other signs of pregnancy, then you could conduct a home pregnancy test using an early morning urine sample. But in my opinion, the birth control is most probably the cause for the menstrual irregularities.
