What Causes Vaginal Discharge With Bad Odour After A Ileostomy?
Question: After having surgery for Crohn's in which I had an ileostomy created and my rectum removed, my period will not flow and neither does daily discharge. They will only empty out when I sit back on the toilet to empty my stoma bag! I have had a lot of previously surgery to remove my large bowel, a j pouch created and a j pouch removed. What could be the cause of this blockage? When it does come out, the smell is terrible and when I have sex it all comes out and the smell is bad. I do have adhesions where my j pouch had got stuck inside and when I have sex it does feel like a slight blockage but I have been to a gynaecologist who said there is no blockage. The smell when anything leaves my body is so terrible that I worry what is happening as the bodily fluids and stay inside for hours

Hi
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1.You are reporting to have vaginal discharge with bad smell.
This finding is mostly related with gardenerela infection.
2. With regards to blockage of vaginal discharge to my opinion it is related with abdominal adhesions due to abdominal multiple surgery.
3. I need to know more about your current medications . Are you using cortisone or not?
At the end I suggest to do:
- smear culture test
-vaginal swab
- transvaginal ultrasound
The treatment of choice for gardenerela infection is metronidasole for 7 days.
I would suggest to take a second opinion from another gynecologyst .
Hope it was helpfull to you
