What Causes Vein Spasms In Upper Arm?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Fasciculations
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Sorry for the delay in my response.
The spasms you mention may not be due to the veins, spasm in the veins cannot be felt. I strongly suspect it to be muscle fasciculations. Such faciculations occur due to defective nerve conduction. Any sort of problem like compression or damage to the nerves anywhere between the spinal cord and the part involved can present with fasciculations.
I suggest you to consult a Neurologist who can examine your spine and may also ask for a MRI scan to rule out any sort of compression or damage to the nerves. You may have to do this at the earliest as such conditions are progressive and can lead to problems like numbness, weakness and loss of sensation and strength.
Meanwhile do take Multivitamin supplements which can help to regenerate a damaged nerve fibre.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.

you think I can get disability for this? and the ilio-inguinal neuropathy. I had the #rd Long thoracic nerve dx in 93 as damaged and have had tx for a wonging scapula.
It could be a extension of winging scapula

Hi,
Thanks for writing back.

There is a nerve pathology for sure, hence EMG may not be helpful. A MRI scan of the spine can provide useful information needed for the management.
Winging of scapula is not in Chinese medicine alone. The present condition could be a extension of the same. Get the scan done and consult a neurologist.
Wish you good health.

they are different again,
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
MRI and nerve conduction studies serve different purposes.
Nerve conduction studies determine whether the nerve is damaged but the MRI identify the cause of damage. Both will be needed for a perfect diagnosis and to plan management.
