I have read about vargus nerve I believe it is and I am wondering if I have caused this with reading about six to eight hours a day and if not reading I am on computer.

the pvcs seem to run at the same time stomach issues start and stop around same time. racing heart is when I am sleeping and doesn't take long to stop but enough to wake me up. my heart rate at rest is running 90 to one hundred but not much higher when I am working around house.i am feeling stressed but I think mainly because not feeling right.i am having some headaches and neck pain but I figured that is due to reading and computer.

Brief Answer:
Gastritis. Medication, mandatory breaks, light exercise, diet.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Yes, Gastritis can cause all these symptoms.

2. The neck and shoulder pain may also be related to posture or cervical spine issues.

3. The best way to confirm this is to put mandatory breaks during long hours of reading and computer use. Light exercise and diet will be beneficial.

4. An antacid and OTC anti-acidity medication will help.

5. If this does settle down, it will confirm the gastritis and vagal stimulation. if this does not settle down, further investigations will be necessary.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

would it benefit me to see a chiropractor? I was going to try that but with the vertigo that thought is a little upsetting. turning my head too fast or bending over can make me feel ill but laying down and flipping over will probably send my world spinning. I have been taking meclizine 25mg that seemed to help but once prescription ran out went to otc of same thing and its not working as well. I have started to take more breaks throughout the day and has helped headaches and a little with neck and shoulder pain. most of my worse symtoms seem to be at night, not sleeping well even with sleep aid getting woke up with fast heart rate and the worst dizzy and nausea seems to be at night more pvc at night so going to bed is not something I look forward to anymore. if you have anymore advise I would love to hear it.

Brief Answer:
Rule out BPPV, anemia, hyperthyroidism.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. The second set of symptoms that you have now described suggest the possibility of BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) which is a very common cause of vertigo.

2. Besides a chiropractor, you need to consult an ENT specialist or a Neurotologist.
BPPV requires re-positioning exercises and medication is not the mainstay of treatment of BPPV. The Dix Hallpike test and direct observation of nystagmus (abnormal eye movements) among other balance tests are necessary.

3. As regards you high pulse rate (tachycardia), I would rule out anemia (low hemoglobin) and hyperthyroidism. Appropriate blood tests, an ECG and a 2D Echo study are recommended.

4. Treatment of gastritis and the earlier management (in the previous answer) will still remain a top priority.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
