What Causes Vertigo Followed By Upper Respiratory Tract Infection?
Vestibular Neuritis or Ménière's disease...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query. I will try my best to help you with this problem.
Acute incapacitating vertigo following an upper respiratory tract infection goes in favour of vestibular neuritis. If the vertigo is intermittent in nature, it could be Meneiere's disease.
Intermittent sharp earache could be related to the Eustachian tube (the tube connecting nose and the ear) dysfunction.
Dizziness has to be treated with either Cinnarizine or Betahistine while the Eustachian tube dysfunction requires treatment with steroid and saline nasal spray followed by steam inhalation.
If the symptoms do not subside with the above measures, a High Resolution CT scan of the temporal bone or brain is required to look for any other lesions causing dizziness. Also, audiological evaluation aids in identifying the cause of earache.
Hope I have answered your. Revert back to me if you have any further queries.

Do not take antibiotics...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing back
If you did not have an upper respiratory tract infection before the onset of the dizziness, then you don't require antibiotics.
Secondly, you need to get back to your doctor to rule out BPPV and Ménière's disease.
I wish you good health and good luck.
