What Causes Water Blisters On Healing Sores On Chin?

Posted on Thu, 30 Jul 2015
Question: I had an accident at the gym over a month ago doing box jumps. I scrapped my chin. I've been keeping it covered with neosporin and bandaids. I also was put on antibiotics and up to this point it has been healing ok. I'm on vacation on the east coast and last night the two almost healed sores become covered with water blisters. It doesn't hurt, just itches.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understood your problem.

Does anything other than clear fluid come from those blisters ?

Usually itching and blisters are seen together in allergic dermatosis. It is possible that you may have been bitten by a small insect in or around that region. The other possibility is that the infections has recurred possibly die to secondary infection, especially if you have pain, redness and swelling of that region.

It would be helpful to send me a picture of your lesion on your chin for me to better understand your problem.

I would advise you to XXXXXXX dry the lesion with a clean and soft cloth or clean the surroundings with alcohol prep swabs. Apply Fucidin (Fusidic acid) or Bactroban (Mupirocin) ointment on the lesion 3 times a day and avoid Neosporin. Avoid Band aids as they can raise the heat over a skin lesion and can increase bacterial load in some cases.

Avoid prodding at or touching the lesion with the fingers which can also be a cause of secondary infection.

Kindly consult with your Dermatologist if the lesion has become redder, swollen and oozing a lot even after applying Fucidin or Bactroban ointment for 3 days.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thanking you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

I was able to view a photo you posted of an arm with two wounds perhaps. I can see blisters. It would be wise to pop the blisters with a sterile hypodermic needle very gently and let all the fluid drain. Apply the Fucidin or Bactroban ointment over them and keep open.

You can consult with the Healthcare Magic team to get the photo of your chin uploaded.

Thanking you.
